Favorite Verse: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord will be with you wherever you go. What JLTA Means To Me: The Academy was and will be a place for boys to mature into men. Men that have a very close relationship with God, and that can lead others to have the same deep relationship. When I first started the academy I was a boy, a really big boy but a boy nonetheless, my spiritually relationship with God was very immature. Since that first camp I have graduated from high school, and made it through 2 years of college. Throughout that time my relationship with God has been up and down. At my last camp I would say that my relationship with God was at a pretty low point; this gave God a good opportunity to speak directly into my heart and show me that he is the one true God. At camp I was reading through my bible, looking for a verse that would speak to me. I found a couple of them, and one of them really struck home: Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (NIV).” The reason this verse spoke to me so much is that while I was at college, I would get discouraged because I would do poorly on a test, or my money situation was difficult, or I just felt like I had no time for myself, and I really had nothing to support me. Now I know that when I am in need the only person who can really help me is God. He will never forsake me and he “will be with me wherever I go. Now I know that when I am in need the only person who can really help me is God. He will never forsake me and he “will be with me wherever I go.”
