Favorite Verse: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord will be with you wherever you go. What JLTA Means To Me: During my years at the Academy I have made some great friendships, had lots of fun, and most importantly, grew closer to God. Every year we met new challenges and learned to work as a team, and every year I looked forward to the next camp and being able to see my friends again. I was always able to have fun with these guys, whether we were paddling canoes or hanging out in survival, and that helped make the camps even more fun for me. My favorite part of all the camps, besides breakfast Saturday morning, was Friday night’s Council Fire. We would always start out with an opening prayer and some worship songs followed by a little sermon. Then we would open up and pray for each other. It was a time when I could relax and feel the Holy Spirit move though us. Whenever I need help and call upon God, I remember these Council Fires because they have had a great impact on my life. JLTA to me was more then just a camp or a week away from home. It created some of the most memorable events of my life. I never would have gone had it not been for one of my best friends who signed me up without my knowing. I’ll never forget my time at JLTA, the things I learned, or how God can move in a bunch of kids who have a little faith.
